Game Overview

Golden Nugget Casino DS came out in 2005 for the Nintendo DS, developed by Skyworks Technologies and published by Crave Entertainment. It was part of that early wave of DS titles trying to figure out what the dual screens and touch controls were good for, and this one went all in on casino simulation.

You play as yourself, a visitor to the casino, moving between different games like blackjack, slots, and video poker using the touch screen to place bets, hit, or fold. The main goal is just to build your virtual bankroll, trying your luck across the various offerings. The touch screen is used for all your interactions, dealing cards, spinning reels, or placing chips on the table, while the top screen often shows game rules or your current funds. The pacing is what you make it; you can jump between games quickly, and the difficulty is really just the inherent odds of each game. It feels like having a compact, surprisingly tactile little casino right in your hands, minus the risk of actually losing money.
