Golvellius came out for the Sega Master System in 1987, developed by Compile. You control a warrior named Valdur, moving screen by screen through an overworld, dungeons, and occasional side-scrolling caverns. You frequently switch perspectives, from top-down exploration to side-view platforming sections, and you can buy upgrades from characters you meet in the world. The pacing is deliberate, with some backtracking and tough enemy patterns to learn. It feels like a substantial journey, piecing together the land's secrets as you go.
