Game Overview

Grave Yardage was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, though it didn't carry a specific release number. The game was developed by John C. Watson and published by Softdisk Publishing, fitting right into that era of quirky, experimental PC titles that didn't take themselves too seriously. It arrived when shareware and disk magazines were common, offering a strange mix of sports and spooks that felt perfectly at home on the platform.

You control a skeletal golfer who must putt a human skull across screen based graveyard courses, using a club to set angle and power. The main goal is to sink the skull into an open grave in as few strokes as possible, navigating around obstacles like tombstones, fences, and wandering ghosts. Key mechanics include banking shots off grave markers to curve around barriers, and carefully judging the force of each swing to avoid overshooting the hole or colliding with enemies. The game moves at a deliberate pace, demanding patience and precision, with later stages introducing tricky slopes and aggressive haunters that raise the difficulty. It feels like a macabre puzzle where every shot requires thoughtful calculation and a little luck.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
