Gremlins 2 on NES is one of those weird little licensed games that actually tries something different. Instead of a side-scroller, you get this top-down maze thing where you play as Gizmo—yeah, the fuzzy little guy—trying to clean up a gremlin infestation. You start off pretty helpless, but after each level you grab random gear like matches or a tiny bow and arrow (which feels ridiculous but somehow works).

Watch for Mr. Wing’s shop doors popping up out of nowhere—half the fun is seeing what weird power-ups he’s selling. The levels are full of bizarre hazards, like spider swarms and electrified floors, and every stage ends with a boss that’s usually way bigger than Gizmo has any right to fight. It’s janky in that classic NES way, but there’s charm in how committed it is to being strange.
