Game Overview

Guild of Thieves is one of those classic Amiga text adventures that somehow makes typing "open door" or "take sword" feel like an actual heist. You play a rookie thief trying to climb the ranks, sneaking into mansions, cracking safes, and avoiding guards who are way too eager to throw you in a dungeon. The parser is surprisingly forgiving for its time—you won’t spend half the game guessing the right verb.

What stuck with me was how alive the world feels despite being all text. There’s this one mansion where the owner’s snoring changes if you mess with his belongings, and the guild master actually remembers your past failures (or successes). Just don’t expect flashy graphics—it’s all in your imagination, which honestly works better for a sneaky thief fantasy anyway.

If you’ve got the patience for old-school adventuring, this one’s a gem.
