Guilty Gear Dust Strikers came out for the Nintendo DS in 2006, developed by Arc System Works. It was part of that early wave of DS games trying to figure out what to do with the touchscreen, a time when developers were experimenting with new control schemes. This one took the Guilty Gear franchise and tried to fit its fast paced, air based combat onto the dual screens.

You control one of several Guilty Gear characters, battling opponents across a series of floating platforms. The main goal is to knock your enemy off the screen by building up their damage and landing a powerful blow. The signature mechanics are the touchscreen activated special moves, which you tap or swipe to execute, and the ability to perform lengthy air combos that carry your opponent across both screens. The pacing is frantic, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially when managing the dual screen arena. It feels like a chaotic, slightly unpolished brawler that is entirely its own thing.
