Guilty Gear Dust Strikers came out for the Nintendo DS in 2006, developed by Arc System Works. It was a time when a lot of fighting game franchises were trying out portable spin-offs, and this one took the series' cast and threw them into something completely different. It felt like a strange, experimental side project, the kind of thing you'd pick up because you were a fan and just curious what they'd try next.
You control one of the Guilty Gear characters, moving up a vertical screen while fighting waves of enemies and other players. The main goal is to climb to the top of each stage, knocking opponents off the screen or depleting their health. Key mechanics include using the touch screen for special Dust Attacks and grabbing power-ups that appear mid-stage. The pacing is fast and chaotic, with hazards like fire pits adding to the scramble. It’s a messy, unpredictable brawler that feels more like a party game than a serious fighter.
