Gunforce - Battle Fire Engulfed Terror Island is one of those SNES games that somehow slipped under the radar, which is wild because it’s basically Contra on steroids. You grab a gun—or, realistically, like six different guns—and just start blasting through soldiers, robots, and whatever else the game throws at you. The first level alone has helicopters dropping enemies, turrets popping up everywhere, and explosions that take up half the screen.

Co-op is where it really shines, though. Teaming up with a friend turns the chaos up to 11, especially when you’re both frantically dodging bullets while some giant mech boss fills the entire background. It’s not exactly a thinking man’s game—more like a “hold down the fire button and pray” kind of experience—but that’s what makes it so much fun. The bosses are ridiculous in the best way, and the weapons feel stupidly overpowered (in a good way).

If you miss that era of arcade-style run-and-guns where everything was loud, fast, and borderline unfair, this one’s a must-play. Just don’t expect to beat it on your first try.
