Electronic Arts released Hard Hat Mack in 1983 as part of their MS-DOS Classic Games line. It was a straightforward arcade-style platformer for its time, fitting right in with the kind of quick, challenging games you'd find on early home computers. You played as a construction worker, Mack, trying to do his job on a site that was actively falling apart.

You control Mack across single-screen stages, jumping between platforms and ladders while collecting hard hats for points. The main goal is to repair broken floor sections by walking over them, all while dodging falling tools, bouncing rivets, and the site foreman who chases you if you're too slow. The pace is relentless; hazards appear without much warning, and the difficulty ramps up quickly. It feels like a frantic race against a clock you can't see.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
