Harlem Globetrotters came out in 1991 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Softie, Inc. It was one of those early PC titles that tried to capture the fun of arcade sports without taking itself too seriously. You got to pick your favorite Globetrotter and just mess around on the court, which was a nice change from more rigid basketball sims at the time.
You control one of the Globetrotters, running up and down a side-scrolling court, passing and shooting, but the real goal is pulling pranks. You can steal the referee's pants, bounce the ball off an opponent's head, or set up alley-oops that turn into comedy routines. The game moves quickly, and the difficulty comes from timing your gags while still trying to score points. It feels silly and lighthearted, like you're putting on a show rather than playing a serious game.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
