Helious came out in 1993 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Sean M. Puckett. It fits right in with the era's top-down shooters, a straightforward blast of action without much story to get in the way. You just jump in and start shooting.
You pilot a small, nimble ship through tight corridors and open arenas, clearing each screen of enemies before moving to the next. The main goal is survival; you dodge dense patterns of enemy fire while chaining together explosions to rack up points. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is unforgiving, demanding quick reflexes and sharp spatial awareness. It feels like being pushed right to the edge of your skill, every run tense and demanding.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
