Game Overview

Hired Guns is one of those Amiga games that looked impossible at first glance—four mercenary viewpoints on one screen? But somehow, it works. You pick a squad from 12 weirdos (my go-to was the cyborg sniper and the grenade-happy heavy), then drop onto Graveyard, a planet that’s basically a giant death trap disguised as a rescue mission.

The split-screen thing is chaotic in the best way. If you’re solo, you’re juggling four perspectives like some stressed-out space general, clicking between them to move, shoot, or panic-heal. With friends, it turns into a shouting match—especially in Short Action mode, where you’re all racing to the exit while sabotaging each other.

Combat’s clunky in that old-school, grid-based way where positioning matters more than reflexes. You’ll spend half your time shuffling sideways to avoid mutant claws, the other half digging through inventories for medkits you swear you packed. The Training mode’s mercifully short, but the Full Campaign? That’s where the real meat is—20-odd missions of increasingly ridiculous bio-engineered horrors and a finale that’s basically "get the MacGuffins or explode."

It’s janky, it’s brutal, and playing with four people turns your living room into a warzone. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
