Hired Guns is one of those Amiga games that still feels ahead of its time. You pick a squad of four mercs from a roster of 12—each with their own stats and quirks—and dive into this brutal sci-fi dungeon crawler where the screen splits into separate viewpoints. First time I played, I got wrecked because I didn’t realize how differently each character handles weapons. The samurai-looking guy? Great with blades, terrible with guns. The cyborg? Absolute tank.

What’s wild is how it handles multiplayer. Up to four people can play together, each controlling their own mercenary in real-time. If you’re solo, you’re juggling all four viewpoints with the mouse, which sounds chaotic (and it is), but there’s a follow mode to keep them moving together. The campaign’s got this eerie vibe—you think you’re rescuing hostages, but nope, you’ve been lured into some messed-up experiment with mutant creatures. The maps get seriously punishing later on, especially when you’re scrambling for those fusion cores before the final showdown.

And if you just want quick chaos, the Short Action mode pits you against friends in race-to-the-exit battles. Nothing like watching your buddy’s merc get mauled by a bio-engineered horror while you sprint for the finish line.
