Play Hired Guns Online
You juggle four mercs in split-screen real-time—coordinate their moves or watch them blow each other up with misplaced grenades. That janky four-player co-op mode still feels wild decades later.

Hired Guns came out in 1993 from DMA Design, the same studio that later made Grand Theft Auto. It was a sci-fi tactical shooter for MS-DOS that stood out at the time for its ambitious approach to squad-based gameplay, even if it never reached blockbuster status.
You control a team of four mercenaries, each in their own quadrant of the screen, navigating maze-like alien installations in real time. The main goal is to complete missions by clearing rooms of hostile creatures, solving simple puzzles, and retrieving key items. Its signature mechanics include managing each character's separate inventory and weapons in real time, and the constant micro-management of health and ammo across the whole squad. The pacing is tense and deliberate, demanding careful coordination to avoid friendly fire or getting overwhelmed. It feels like conducting a chaotic orchestra where every musician has a flamethrower.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
