Play I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream Online
You control five broken souls trapped in AM’s sadistic game, solving puzzles while wrestling with their worst selves—every choice feels like losing, but sometimes you claw back a shred of humanity.

I first encountered I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream on MS-DOS back in 1995, a release from The Dreamers Guild that stood out even among the era's darker point-and-click adventures. Based on Harlan Ellison's short story, it plunges you into a post-apocalyptic hellscape ruled by a vengeful supercomputer, a setting that felt stark and unforgiving compared to the more whimsical or heroic narratives common at the time.
You control five survivors, each imprisoned in a personalized nightmare crafted by AM, and your goal is to guide them toward redemption rather than mere escape. The gameplay involves screen-by-screen exploration, interacting with objects and characters, and making difficult moral choices that directly impact each character's psychological state. The puzzles are often abstract and punishing, requiring you to understand the deep flaws of each protagonist to progress. Every decision feels heavy, and failure is frequent, making the rare moments of genuine success feel like hard-won victories against an omnipresent cruelty.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
