Game Overview

I remember picking up Ikari Warriors for the Amiga back in 1986, a port handled by Elite Systems. It was one of those games that felt right at home on the platform, with its detailed sprites and smooth scrolling, even if it didn't push the hardware to its absolute limits. The game stood out among the many arcade conversions of the time, offering a solid, if familiar, run-and-gun experience.

You control a lone commando, or team up with a friend, fighting through dense jungles and enemy fortresses. The main goal is to rescue a captured colonel by advancing upward through each screen, clearing out waves of soldiers and vehicles. Your signature tools are a machine gun with unlimited ammo, a limited supply of grenades for clearing groups, and the occasional vehicle you can commandeer, like a tank, which completely changes your firepower. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is steep, with enemies spawning from all directions. It feels tense and demanding, a test of both reflexes and resource management until the very end.
