Game Overview

Inazuma Eleven (G) is one of those games that makes soccer feel like an anime battle—because, well, it kind of is. You start off as this scrappy kid leading a ragtag school team, and before long you're recruiting weirdly talented players (some of them have literal superpowers) and pulling off insane special moves mid-match. The RPG stuff sneaks up on you—suddenly you're grinding training sessions to unlock a new flaming shot or figuring out which defender can actually stop that one OP striker.

Matches play out in this weirdly satisfying mix of turn-based strategy and quick button presses for shots and blocks. At first I thought the chibi art style was just cute, but then I got way too invested in my team’s backstories. Also, the soundtrack slaps when you’re in the middle of a close game. If you like soccer even a little and enjoy games where you can obsess over stats, this one’s a surprisingly deep time sink.
