Game Overview

Inazuma Eleven came out on the Nintendo DS in 2008, developed by Level-5. It was one of those games that really made use of the touch screen, fitting right in with the DS era's experimental spirit. You play as Mark Evans, a passionate goalkeeper trying to revive his school's soccer club from the ground up.

You control Mark as he explores the school and town, talking to other students to recruit them for the team. The main goal is to build a strong enough squad to compete in tournaments and uncover the mysteries behind an ancient football legend. Matches play out in real time; you direct players by tapping or drawing paths on the screen, and when you're near the goal, you trigger special moves by performing quick stylus gestures. These super moves add a strategic layer, since they drain your team's energy but can turn the tide of a match. The pacing is brisk, with a good mix of exploration, light RPG elements, and soccer gameplay that starts simple but gradually demands more tactical thinking. It feels energetic and satisfying, especially when you pull off a well-timed hissatsu technique to score.
