Play Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (Taito) Online

You crack your whip at pixelated Nazis, fumble through maze-like temples, and occasionally punch a guy so hard he cartoonishly spins away—just like the movie, if the movie had janky 8-bit physics.

Game Overview

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade on NES is one of those games that makes you feel like you're actually in the movie—if the movie had pixelated Nazis and awkward jumping physics. You start off cracking your whip at bad guys in side-scrolling sections, then suddenly you're wandering through top-down temples trying to decipher clues. It's weirdly ambitious for an 8-bit game.

The first time I played, I got stuck for ages in that damn castle maze before realizing I had to use the map from the movie (yeah, they actually expect you to remember that scene). And the fistfights? Clunky as hell, but there's something satisfying about punching a Nazi so hard he spins off-screen. Just don't get me started on the boulder chase level—my thumbs still hurt.

It's definitely rough around the edges, but there's charm in how it tries to cram the whole Indy experience into a cartridge. You'll either love it or throw your controller at the wall. No in-between.
