Play Izmir Online
Navigate a maze, solve logic puzzles, push blocks, trigger traps, and evade a relentless enemy in this classic 1990 MS-DOS game, Izmir.
Izmir is a 1990 MS-DOS game released as part of the 0 MS-DOS Classic Games collection. It was developed by an independent creator whose name doesn't appear in many archives, which gives it that obscure, almost underground feel typical of the shareware scene. You load it up and immediately get that familiar CGA palette, all blues and magentas, with chunky pixels and a stark, no frills interface. It doesn't try to be epic; it's just a clever little game from when puzzles were mean and didn't hold your hand.
You control a small character trapped in a maze of rooms, each one a self contained logic problem. The goal is simply to escape each screen by interacting with blocks, switches, and doors in the right sequence. The signature mechanic is the enemy that spawns after a few moves: a jagged, relentless thing that homes in on your position. This turns careful planning into frantic evasion. You'll push blocks to create barriers, trigger traps to slow it down, and sometimes just make a desperate run for the exit. The pacing is tense; you start methodically, but the second that enemy appears, your heart rate jumps. It feels like being hunted while trying to solve a riddle.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
