Play Jang-gi Online
Jang-gi’s pieces move smooth as silk until that cannon blasts through your plans—then you’re scrambling to rethink everything while the AI picks apart every weak move. That stark DOS board keeps your head in the game, no distractions.

Jang-gi was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a release that bundled several titles without a clear developer or publisher credited in many versions. It appeared during the era when strategy games were gaining a foothold on home computers, offering a digital take on traditional Korean chess without much fanfare or elaborate presentation.
You control the pieces on a 9x10 board, each with distinct movement rules like the chariot moving orthogonally or the cannon requiring a screen piece to capture. The main objective is to checkmate the opponent's general, using careful positioning and tactical sacrifices to break their defense. Signature mechanics include the cannon's unique jumping attack and the elephant's diagonal two-step move, which can block advances or support your own. The pacing is deliberate, demanding foresight and patience, while the difficulty can spike sharply against a shrewd opponent. It feels like a tense, cerebral duel where one misstep can unravel an entire match.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
