Play Jungle Book, The (USA, Europe) Online

Swing through the jungle as Mowgli, tossing coconuts at monkeys and barely dodging Shere Khan—those vine jumps get tense, but landing them feels so good. Baloo’s goofy walk animation still holds up.

Game Overview

I picked up Jungle Book on Game Boy back in 1994, a portable take on the Disney film from Virgin Interactive. It was one of those licensed platformers that felt right at home on the system, simple in concept but with enough charm to stand out. The graphics were clean for the hardware, and it captured the look of the movie without trying to do too much.

You play as Mowgli, moving screen by screen through jungle stages, climbing vines, and avoiding hazards like snakes and bees. Your main goal is to reach the end of each level, but you also collect gems and fruit for points. You throw coconuts at enemies, which feels satisfying when you hit a monkey just right. The platforming can be tricky; timing your jumps on moving leaves or swinging vines requires focus. It’s not an easy game, but nailing a difficult section gives a real sense of accomplishment. Playing it feels like a straightforward, sometimes challenging trip through the world of the film.
