Not as slick as Panzer General, but there’s something raw about it—like the devs focused more on making the tactics feel meaty than polishing the edges.
You start with a handful of units, some basic objectives, and zero hand-holding. The first time I played, I sent my entire battalion straight into an ambush because I didn’t scout ahead (rookie mistake). But that’s the charm—it’s deep enough to reward careful planning, but you don’t need a PhD in military history to enjoy it. The sound effects are pure nostalgia too—those tinny machine-gun bursts and explosion crunches straight from a 90s soundcard.
If you’ve got DOSBox and a soft spot for retro strategy, this one’s a time capsule worth cracking open. Just watch out for those anti-tank guns hidden in the trees.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
