Game Overview

Keef the Thief: A Boy and His Lockpick came out in 1989, published by Electronic Arts for MS-DOS. It was part of that wave of early PC games that leaned into humor and lighthearted adventure, a contrast to the more serious fantasy titles of the era.

You play as Keef, a young thief trying to make a name for yourself. The goal is to sneak through various locations, pilfering treasure and avoiding guards. The game plays out screen by screen, with you using a lockpick to open doors and chests, all while managing your limited inventory. Guards patrol the areas, and if they spot you, a frantic chase begins; getting caught means losing some of your hard stolen goods. The pacing is deliberate, sometimes unforgiving, but the absurd tone keeps things engaging. It feels like stumbling through a chaotic heist where every success is earned and every mistake is loudly, comically punished.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
