Man, King of the Monsters 2 is pure, dumb arcade fun—the kind where you pick a giant monster and just start wrecking cities. No deep lore, no complicated combos, just kaiju smashing through buildings and suplexing each other into power plants. The pixel art still holds up, especially when your radioactive lizard breathes fire across an entire city block.

You’ve got six monsters to choose from, each with their own ridiculous moveset. I kept going back to the four-armed alien guy because his spinning piledriver is just stupidly satisfying. Matches are quick and chaotic, especially in 2-player mode where you can team up or just turn on each other mid-brawl. The screen shakes like crazy when you land a big hit, and the sound effects—cheesy monster roars, crumbling skyscrapers—are perfect.

It’s not exactly balanced (some characters feel way stronger than others), but that almost adds to the charm. This is the kind of game you throw on when you’ve got 20 minutes to kill and just want to watch things explode. The Neo Geo version still looks and plays great, even if it’s basically a beefed-up arcade port.
