Game Overview

Kirby's Avalanche came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995, developed by HAL Laboratory. It was part of that wave of puzzle games that really defined the SNES library, sitting alongside titles like Tetris Attack and Dr. Mario, offering a competitive twist on the falling-block formula.

You control Kirby at the bottom of the screen, guiding colored blobs as they fall into place. The main goal is to create chains by matching four or more same-colored blobs, which then disappear and send gray garbage blocks to your opponent's side. Building those multi-step combos is key; a well-timed chain can bury the other player under a cascade of obstacles. The pacing starts deceptively simple but quickly escalates into a frantic back-and-forth, especially against later CPU opponents who dish out punishment relentlessly. It feels like a tense, strategic tug-of-war where one mistake can cost you the entire match.
