Game Overview

Klash Ball came out for the NES in 1991, published by Sofel. It was one of those games that tried to do something a little different on a console already packed with platformers and RPGs. You pick a team of futuristic athletes and step into an enclosed arena, ready for a kind of brutal, high-speed sport.

You control one player at a time, passing the heavy metal ball between teammates and trying to slam it into the opponent's goal. The main objective is simple: score more points than the other team. The signature mechanics involve the warp tunnels that line the arena walls; the ball rockets through them unpredictably, changing direction in a flash. You also have to physically brawl with the opposing players, shoving them out of the way or stealing the ball during tackles. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty spikes quickly as the AI opponents become more aggressive. It feels like trying to play rugby inside a pinball machine.
