Pick Terry or Iori, throw some chunky pixel punches that actually feel like they land, and try not to get wrecked when the AI turns up the heat. That announcer screaming "PERFECT!" never gets old.

Game Overview

I was playing The King of Fighters '95 on MAME 0.243 the other day, a port of the original SNK arcade release. It came out in 1995, right in the middle of the fighting game boom, and it feels like a direct product of that era. You pick a team of three characters from a pretty big roster, each with their own style, and then you just fight.

You control your chosen fighter in one-on-one matches, working through a series of opponents until you face the final boss. The main mechanics are the team selection, where you can actually edit your team's order, the ability to dash and roll to avoid attacks, and the super moves that require precise input to pull off. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike pretty hard, especially later on. It feels like a real test of your reflexes and your ability to read an opponent's patterns.
