Play Lagoon (Japan) Online
You play as Nasir swinging a weirdly short sword at monsters while fixing a kingdom’s water supply—expect janky combat but oddly satisfying dungeons and great synth tunes.

Lagoon came out for the Super Nintendo in 1991, developed and published by ZOOM Inc. It was one of those early action RPGs on the system, a time when developers were still figuring out how to translate the feel of PC and arcade adventures to a home console. The game doesn't get talked about much these days, but it has a certain earnest, experimental quality that makes it memorable for those who spent time with it.
You control the hero Nasir, moving screen by screen through fields, towns, and multi-level dungeons. Your main goal is to restore the kingdom's water supply by defeating four bosses and collecting magical orbs. Combat relies on a short-range sword swing that forces you right up against enemies, which can feel awkward until you adjust. You also use magic spells found in chests, and health recovers slowly when you stand still. The pacing is deliberate, and some sections are quite difficult due to limited healing and aggressive foes. It feels like a rough but earnest adventure, where every small victory matters.
