Lagoon came out for the Super Nintendo in 1991, developed and published by Kemco. It was one of those early action RPGs on the system, arriving before a lot of the more polished classics that would define the genre on the console. It had a certain straightforward, almost utilitarian feel that marked a lot of games from that transitional period.
You control the hero Nasir, exploring the world screen by screen, clearing areas of monsters to progress. Your main goal is to collect the four crystals of the elements to defeat the evil god. Combat relies on your short-range sword and a chargeable magic spell; positioning is key because your attack range is very limited. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty can feel uneven, with some enemy patterns demanding precise timing. It feels like a deliberate, sometimes clumsy trek through a world that slowly opens up as you gain power.
