Game Overview

Lingo was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a compilation that brought together various titles from the platform's early era. The game was developed by Gamestar and published by Softdisk Publishing, fitting right into that period of straightforward, puzzle-focused computer games that didn't rely on flashy graphics or complex stories.

In Lingo, you don't control a character; you simply input five-letter words, trying to guess the hidden solution. The main objective is to deduce the correct word in as few attempts as possible, using color-coded feedback after each guess. A letter turns red if it's correct and in the right position; it turns yellow if it's in the word but misplaced. The pacing is methodical, almost tense, as you narrow down possibilities with each new clue. It feels like stretching your vocabulary and logic at the same time, a quiet but persistent mental workout.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
