Play Lock ‘N Chase Online
Navigate tight bank vaults, collect coins, avoid cops, and use doors to block their path in this maze chase on Game Boy.
Lock 'N Chase came out for the Game Boy in 1990, published by Data East. It was one of those early handheld titles that felt right at home on the small screen, a maze game that didn't try to be more than it was. In an era packed with arcade ports and simple, repetitive concepts, it held its own with a clear idea and a decent challenge.
You control a thief navigating tight, grid-based bank vaults, collecting coins while avoiding a squad of persistent cops. Your main goal is to grab all the money on each screen before moving to the next, but the cops are always closing in. You can drop temporary doors behind you to block their path, though they eventually break through, adding tension. Sometimes you pick up a diamond that turns you invisible, letting you pass through enemies for a short time. The pacing is quick, and the levels get genuinely tricky as new cops join the chase. It feels like a tight, nervous game of cat and mouse where one wrong turn ends your run.
