Game Overview

Mappy Kids came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989, developed and published by Namco. It was part of that late NES era when developers were still finding new ways to use the hardware, sometimes with quirky ideas that didn't always get a lot of attention.

You control one or two young mice trying to retrieve stolen toys from cats across several themed houses. The main objective is to explore each multi-screen stage, find all the hidden toys, and bring them back to a central collection point. Signature mechanics include bouncing on trampolines to reach higher platforms and using those bounces to stun or avoid the patrolling cats. With a second player, the game becomes a chaotic race where you can accidentally bump each other into enemies or off ledges. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty comes from managing the cats' movements while coordinating bounces, especially in co-op. It feels like a playful, slightly frantic scramble where cooperation and mischief are equally possible.
