Game Overview
Mario Sunshine 2 (or Super Mario Sunshine 64, depending on where you find it) is one of those weird, janky Flash Mario games that somehow just works. You start off in this bizarre red tutorial level that feels like someone threw together in five minutes—jump here, spray water there—but once you get past that, you’re dumped into Peach’s Castle with a bunch of levels to pick from. Just hit Down to choose, no fancy menus.
The rocket pack is the real star here. Instead of just running and jumping, you’re blasting around with water jets, which makes everything feel way more chaotic than your usual Mario game. Some levels have you hunting for Sun sprites, others throw bosses at you—nothing groundbreaking, but it’s got that classic Flash-era charm where everything’s a little rough around the edges. And hey, it actually saves your progress, which is a miracle for one of these old browser games.
It’s not polished, but that’s kind of the fun of it.
