Game Overview

Martian Alert came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by the relatively unknown studio Starfish. It was part of that wave of late-era GBC shooters that tried to squeeze a bit more action out of the hardware before the Advance took over. The game doesn't try to be a graphical showcase, but it has a certain charm in its simplicity.

You control a small, nimble spaceship, moving it across the screen to avoid enemy fire and alien collisions. Your main objective is to survive each wave, clearing the screen of all Martians to progress. The core mechanics involve constant dodging, rapid firing with the A button, and collecting power-ups that occasionally drop from defeated foes. The pacing is relentless; enemies swarm from all directions, and the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding sharp reflexes. It feels like a frantic, satisfying test of your ability to stay calm under a hail of pixelated laser fire.
