Game Overview

Ultima: Worlds of Adventure 2: Martian Dreams came out in 1991 from Origin Systems, one of those ambitious MS-DOS titles that tried to blend genres when most games stuck to one lane. It’s a strange, thoughtful follow-up to the first Worlds of Adventure game, set not in a fantasy realm but on a colonized, alternate-history Mars where famous Earth figures are trapped in a shared dreamscape.

You control the Avatar and a party of historical personalities, exploring the red planet screen by screen, solving environmental puzzles, and engaging in turn-based combat against bizarre flora and fauna. The main goal is to wake the frozen colonists and unravel the mystery behind the collective dream state, using period-appropriate gadgets like steam-powered rifles and psychic projectors. Progression is methodical, often requiring careful inventory management and dialogue choices, with a difficulty that rewards patience over haste. Playing it feels like stepping into a meticulously crafted, slightly unhinged Victorian science fiction novel where every interaction matters.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
