Game Overview

Command & Conquer: Red Alert came out in 1996 for MS-DOS, developed by Westwood Studios. It was one of those defining real-time strategy games from that era, sitting right alongside titles like Warcraft II. The game presented an alternate history where Einstein's meddling with time created a new World War II, pitting the Allies against the Soviet Union.

You control either the Allied or Soviet forces, building a base, harvesting resources, and training an army to destroy your opponent. The main objective is to eliminate the enemy's base and production facilities. Key mechanics include managing ore harvesters for income, constructing a diverse tech tree of units and defenses (like the Soviet Tesla Coil or Allied Chronosphere), and directing large-scale assaults across varied terrain. The pacing is aggressive; hesitation often means being overrun by tanks or swarmed by infantry. It feels like a constant, high-stakes chess match played with explosives and lightning bolts.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
