I picked up Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects on PSP back in 2005, a portable brawler from Team Fusion and Electronic Arts. It was one of those early PSP titles that tried to bring console-style action on the go, with a mix of familiar Marvel heroes and some original characters called the Imperfects. The game arrived when the handheld was still new, offering a dose of comic book chaos you could take anywhere.

You control characters like Wolverine or Spider-Man, battling through urban arenas in both story and versus modes. The main objective is to defeat waves of enemies or other heroes using a mix of light, heavy, and special attacks. Signature mechanics include using interactive environments, like throwing cars or smashing walls, and building up a rage meter to unleash powerful super moves. Matches are fast and sometimes chaotic, with a difficulty that spikes noticeably in later stages. It feels like a rough but energetic portable fighter that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
