Pick a side in the superhero Civil War, then smash through waves of goons with flashy team combos—unlocking weirder characters by wrecking cars in timed challenges.
Game Overview
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 on PSP is basically a superhero brawler where you smash through hordes of enemies with a team of four Marvel characters. The story’s built around the Civil War arc—you know, the one where heroes split over government registration—and at some point, you actually have to pick a side. Pro-registration locks you out of certain characters, anti-registration does the same, so replaying it feels different.
You start with a basic roster (Spidey, Wolverine, etc.), but there’s a ton to unlock through these weird simulator missions—like, “destroy 20 cars in 60 seconds” kind of stuff. Combat’s simple at first—button-mashy punches, jumps, grabs—but once you start mixing in powers and fusion attacks, it gets chaotic in the best way. The fusion system’s the big upgrade from the first game: pair any two heroes, and they’ve got a unique team-up move. Thing hurls Mr. Fantastic like a projectile, Storm and Wolverine do this lightning-claw combo… it never gets old watching them play off each other.
Oh, and the environments are destructible in that satisfying, “why yes, I *should* throw a tank at this group of enemies” way. Health pickups drop from smashed crates, and you’re constantly tweaking your team’s stats and powers between missions. It’s dumb fun, but the kind where you lose an hour without realizing it.
