Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 on the Nintendo DS came out in 2009, developed by Vicarious Visions. It was part of that wave of handheld adaptations trying to bring a console brawler feel to the smaller screen. You control a team of four Marvel characters, switching between them to fight through levels packed with enemies. The main goal is to stop a global threat, which involves moving screen by screen, clearing out rooms, and occasionally tackling light environmental puzzles. Key mechanics include fusion attacks, where you combine two heroes' abilities for area damage, and upgrading each character's move set as you progress. The pacing is brisk, with straightforward combat and manageable difficulty spikes. It feels satisfying to build a custom team and watch them unleash chaos together.
