Medieval Warriors is a 1990 MS-DOS release from developer Impressions Games. It arrived during a period when strategy titles were beginning to explore more direct control of individual units, moving beyond purely abstracted maps. The game presents a straightforward, no frills approach to medieval combat simulation.
You control a small band of knights, archers, and infantry, directing them across tiled battlefields to capture enemy castles. The main objective is to eliminate all opposing forces on each screen. Signature mechanics include managing unit stamina, which depletes as they move and fight, and a simple facing system where attacks are more effective from the flank or rear. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, as you carefully position your men to avoid being surrounded. It feels like commanding a fragile chess army where a single misstep can lead to a swift and total defeat.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
