So Mega Man 4 starts with this fake-out — Dr. Wily's supposedly dead after Gamma blew up, and for a whole year everything's peaceful. Then, of course, some new jerk shows up: Dr. Cossack, who claims Mega Man kidnapped his daughter (yeah right). Now you're running through eight new stages blasting weird robot bosses like Toad Man and Bright Man, stealing their weapons like always. The big new thing? That sweet Mega Buster charge shot — hold down the button and watch your arm cannon glow before unleashing a massive blast. Feels so good when you time it right on a boss.

Same classic run-and-gun action, but now with sliding, Rush the robo-dog transforming into different modes, and those satisfying 'clink' sounds when you land on disappearing blocks. The music's still killer, too — Pharaoh Man's stage theme lives in my head rent-free.
