You control Mega Man, running and jumping through stages, shooting enemies with your arm cannon. The main goal is to defeat eight Robot Masters, gain their weapons, and then take on Dr. Wily's fortress. Signature mechanics include screen by screen exploration, precise platforming, and using newly acquired special weapons to exploit boss weaknesses and overcome environmental obstacles. The pacing is brisk, and while the difficulty is present, it feels more balanced and accessible than some earlier entries. It feels satisfying to master each stage and finally overcome the trickier sections.
