Game Overview

Megafortress came out in 1991 for MS-DOS, published by Three-Sixty Pacific, Inc. It was part of that wave of deep, complex simulators that really pushed what you could do on a PC back then, demanding a lot from players who were willing to learn its systems.

You command the crew of a B-52 bomber on covert missions, managing everything from navigation and radar to weapons and electronic countermeasures. The main goal is to complete your assigned mission, often involving long-range strikes or reconnaissance, while avoiding enemy fighters and surface-to-air missiles. Key mechanics include switching between different crew stations via a menu, monitoring fuel and system status in real time, and manually inputting coordinates or deploying countermeasures. The pacing is slow and deliberate, with long stretches of tension punctuated by sudden, frantic action when threats appear. It feels like a high-stakes puzzle where every decision matters, and surviving a mission brings a real sense of accomplishment.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
