Play Menace Online
Pilot your spacecraft, shoot down waves of aliens, dodge projectiles, collect power-ups, and survive intense boss battles in this classic side-scrolling shooter.
Menace came out in 1988 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by DMA Design, the studio that would later create Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto. It was a side-scrolling shooter from an era when PC games were often defined by their technical ambition and punishing difficulty, fitting right in with the expectations of players at the time.
You pilot a small, nimble spacecraft through a series of horizontally scrolling levels, shooting down waves of alien enemies and dodging their return fire. The main objective is simply survival, clearing each stage to face a large, screen-filling boss. Signature mechanics include collecting power-ups that change your weapon's firing pattern and navigating tight spaces filled with enemy projectiles. The pacing is relentless; the difficulty spikes sharply, demanding quick reflexes and memorization of attack patterns. It feels like a constant, tense battle against overwhelming numbers.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
