Game Overview

Merlin's Walls came out in 1999 for the Atari 2600, a homebrew release that showed what the old hardware could still do. It was developed by Dennis Debro, and it feels like a game that could have existed back in the system's prime, just with a little more polish and intent.

You control a small block, moving through a maze while avoiding enemies that look like shifting pixel clusters. Your goal is to survive each screen, clearing a path without getting touched. The maze walls shift and close in, sometimes boxing you in with the enemies, forcing quick decisions. It starts simple but quickly becomes a test of reflexes and route planning. Playing it feels like walking a tightrope, every move deliberate and tense.
