Game Overview

Merlin’s Walls is one of those weird little Atari 2600 homebrews that makes you wonder how they squeezed so much into such old hardware. You’re basically dodging enemies while navigating maze walls—sounds simple, but the timing gets surprisingly tense. The first few levels ease you in, then suddenly you’re frantically backtracking because some pixel blob cut off your escape route.

What’s cool is how Ebivision managed to make it feel like a proper arcade puzzle game despite the 2600’s limits. The treasures are just squares, the enemies move in predictable patterns, but there’s this weirdly satisfying rhythm to it. If you’ve ever messed with late-era Atari homebrews, this one’s a standout—not just a tech demo, but something you’d actually want to play for an hour.

Also, good luck finding a physical copy. These things were printed in tiny batches, so most people just emulate it these days.
