Mickey's Racing Adventure is this weird little Game Boy Color gem that feels like someone mashed up a top-down racer with a light adventure game. You zip around in these tiny toy cars (somehow Mickey fits in them) on tabletops and sandboxes, which is way more charming than it sounds.
The racing itself reminds me of Micro Machines with that same slippery, slightly chaotic feel—except here you've got power-ups and shortcuts hidden in the levels. Between races, you wander around this hub world talking to Disney characters who give you missions, which was a surprise the first time I played. Goofy's just hanging out near a toolbox like he's about to give you side quests.
It's janky in that late-90s handheld way, but there's something about the toybox aesthetic and the fact that you can unlock Minnie's car before Mickey's that makes it stick with you. Definitely one of the more interesting Disney racers out there.
