Game Overview

Might & Magic 3 – Isles of Terra is one of those Genesis RPGs that still holds up surprisingly well. You start by assembling a party—knights, sorcerers, clerics, the usual suspects—but the way the world slowly unfolds makes it feel less like a checklist and more like stumbling into something alive. The first time I played, I got lost in some cave for an hour because I forgot to map it properly. Classic.

Combat’s turn-based but snappy, and the puzzles actually make you think (annoying at 2 AM, brilliant the next morning). The star navigation thing sounds gimmicky until you realize you’re literally using constellations to find hidden islands. It’s the kind of detail that makes Terra feel like a place, not just a backdrop for fights.

If you’re into retro RPGs, this one’s aged better than most—still punishing, still weirdly immersive. Just don’t blame me when you lose track of time in the Pyramid of the Ancients.
