Play Mortal Kombat 4 Online
Pick a fighter and throw down in chunky pixel battles—uppercuts, fireballs, and those tiny sprite fatalities hit different on the Game Boy. It’s simpler than the console version, but landing a pit stage kill still feels stupidly good.

Mortal Kombat 4 came to the Game Boy Color in 1999, a portable version of Midway's arcade fighter. It arrived during a time when handhelds were just starting to handle more complex games, and this one tried to pack a full fighting roster into that small green screen. The sprites were small, the colors limited, but it was still recognizably Mortal Kombat.
You pick a character like Scorpion or Sub-Zero and fight through a series of one-on-one matches. The main goal is to defeat each opponent and eventually beat the boss, Shinnok. Signature mechanics include the ability to perform special moves, like throwing a spear or an ice blast, and executing fatalities at the end of a match. The pacing is quick, matches are short, and the difficulty can spike sharply against later fighters. It feels satisfying to pull off a combo or a fatality on the go, even with the hardware limitations.
