Mutation Nation is one of those classic Neo Geo beat 'em ups that feels like it crawled straight out of a '90s arcade—in the best way possible. You're basically cleaning up a city overrun by mutants, and yeah, the story’s as cheesy as you’d expect ("genetic experiments gone wrong" is basically the go-to excuse for anything weird here).

What makes it fun is how over-the-top the mutants are—some look like they got stitched together from spare parts, others are just… blobs with teeth. You pick one of two characters (I always go with the fire guy because punching mutants with flaming fists never gets old) and start bashing your way through waves of enemies. The bosses are the real highlight—each one’s a ridiculous, screen-filling monstrosity that makes you scramble to figure out their pattern before they squash you.

It’s not the deepest fighter out there, but if you want something quick, chaotic, and full of mutant-punching satisfaction, this one’s a solid pick.
